Install Tips
When installing HID bulbs into vehicles not originally equipped with such
lights you need to pay attention to some of the following details.
At present our install guide is only available for most type of the vehicles,
yet, If you are not familiar with 12V electrical systems , then please leave
the install to a professional.
Step 1. Remove factory head light or lighting assembly.
Step 2. Remove factory bulb.
Step 3. Test-fit HID bulb (do not touch glass with your bare hands) to see if
it can be readily secured in the factory housing. You may be required to do
some slight modifications to the housing to secure the bulb assembly. The bulb
assembly must be secured for proper operation.
Step 4. Find best location for the ballast/starter assembly to be secured on
the quad. Note that this assembly must of course be within the factory wiring
harness distance to the bulb. Do NOT lenghten the main wiring harness.
Step 5. The wiring install can be done two ways. We usually run our HID
light(s) off the factory light switch. This way we can easily tap into the
light switch for both the power and ground connections. The other method would
be to use an optional 12v automotive relay and do a direct battery hook-up
using an auxillary switch. The easiest way to find the power and ground
connections on your factory headlight system is as follows. We usually open the
switch (if possible) and using a volt meter, we check which wires are power and
ground. We then trace the wires from the switch to a location near the
headlight and splice into the power for the HID ballast and the ground. This
can be done with t-taps, but we prefer soldering the connection. If for some
reason you cannot open the switch, all is not lost. Simply trace the wires from
the switch to a connector and measure at that point.
Step 6. After wiring up the switch and installing the ballast/starter boxes and
HID light. Do a test run on the light. HID lights take a moment to start. If
you are tapping into the current light switch assembly, then make sure you know
if you are tapping into the low or hi beam side of the switch. If you tap into
the low beam portion, then the HID's will be powered ONLY when you hit the low
beam switch.
